Shams Meera is a two tower residential development located in Shams Abu Dhabi, an investment zone on Al Reem Island. In keeping with the modern architecture, the landscape treatment is unfussy – creating outdoor spaces that are aesthetic, functional, legible and responsive.

A public plaza intersects the symmetrical buildings, where island planters are dotted around on directional paving that leads visitors through to the adjacent park. A raised, private pool deck is situated behind the west tower, where residents can access the swimming pool, children’s pool and lawn terrace via steps or ramp. Behind the east tower is a private seating terrace, also access via steps or ramp, and surrounded by planting.

The plant selection for the project was based on adaptive, low water use species to contribute to the Estidama Pearl 2 rating and overall sustainability. Hardscape materials used grey tones to tie in with the buildings, with occasional planters in bright orange adding an element of visual interest.
